Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto and former radio journalist Joshua Arap Sang will today know their fate at the International Criminal Court for their involvement in the country’s 2007/2008 post-election violence.
The court is expected to decide whether or not the two have a case to answer, a decision that will have far-reaching implications on the Deputy President’s political career.
Judges handling the case said on February 12, the evidence collected by the prosecution against Ruto was inadmissible.
The two were charged at the ICC for their alleged role of provoking the election violence that killed more than 1000 people.
The country’s President Uhuru Kenyatta was also implicated in a similar case that collapsed last year following the loss of witness testimony.
